Suspension Setup: Upgrades

MTB suspension upgrades are comprehensive packages designed to enhance the performance of a mountain bike’s suspension system.

Upgrades generally include a combination of parts and specific settings to improve various aspects of suspension, such as comfort, control, and adjustability.

Damper Upgrades:

  • Fork upgrade cartridges, like Fox GRIP X2
  • Piston kits, like the WPS Podium Piston, which is available for fork dampers (GRIP2, Charger 3) as well as rear shocks (DHX2, Van RC..)

Damper upgrades focus on damping: compression damping and/or rebound damping, and generally offer better control over compression and rebound settings, and/or more focus settings tuned for the rider.

Spring Upgrades:

  • Fork air spring upgrade kits, like Vorsprung's Luftkappe or Secus
  • Fork coil conversion systems, like Vorsprung's Smashpot
  • Upgrade air can for rear shocks, like Rockshox's MegNeg

Spring upgrades parts to transform the way an air spring works, to become evern more linear, or even more progressive. Some also reduce friction and may include dedicated hydraulic systems, like the HBO (Hydraulic Bottom Out) on Vorsprung's Smashpot, adding dedicated damping to the spring side.
